Sketching

It's funny because I haven't had a sketch book in my hands for a little while.. I'm not avoiding the lifestyle I was choosing to see just how foreign or how bad I would be if I were to stop. I took some time at the park today when I took my kids out to sketch some shapes. The slide and the joint of the tire swing is what I managed to squeeze out in a 30 minute session. It was too cold to draw! I gotta remember to where gloves in the fall!

New moleskine!!

I'm 24! Since 11/07/12
I haven't been on here in a while. Heres a little filler.. I have been going through some significant changes in my life. I have a significant other now! I actually have 4!
So I will have works soon. The tattoos aren't dead I just won't see this life until I can. So I will keep in touch with certain few of that life but for now I'm getting back on the path of my God given abilities and blessings!
I am on the war path. I'm shooting for RISD. Or Madison. Thanks to the wonderful Samantha Nichole(my oh my god blessing!!) and other things along with that I'm sure I'm good for the rest of the road.

Tattoo experience thus far

So lately, as of this summer, I took on an apprenticeship which is the exact equivalent to taking on a full time school and part time job all in one without pay. If I'm to continue this tattooing apprenticeship I need to quit so many hours at Auto Zone. And pick up more time at the shop. My problem with tattooing is that I treat it as a hobby. Not a career path of my life, so my priorities aren't to the level they need me at. Don't get me wrong though I've learned more than they think I know. Its really amazing how the
commonality of linear rendering and tattooing are related. I have many ideas to practice the tattooing processes. Its a new process but it will be a successful one. One hint... ink

Advanced drawing final homework

Dirty red. Plain jane oni. No culture ties to this one. It was meant to be a transformation assignment. And if you look at it from far it's a solid plain reddish oni but up close its a cracked red stone oni. I also never sketched this idea out. I went straight to the paper. As another type of transformation process.

Calacas 2 Print Exchange 2012

This is my sketch for my Solar Plate print. it features american, japanese, and mexican de los muertos themes. japanese oni biting on a skull biting a sugar skull which contains all styles within itself. plumerias are the eyes, rose for the nose, and pin striping for aesthetics found in modern sugar skulls. japanese cherry blossom and rose are in the background for more variety with the background.

Hmm, to the first part

I'm better than procrastinating. But its like bread. You gotta let the yeast rolls rise before you bake them.. this is me procrastinating on my outlines. Its already hand written. I just have to type and save them. Nothing like facebook and BLOGGER to keep my procrastinating process entertaining.

Trying to stay above the rest.

There's a lot of people with skills here at Cameron. Ive been motioning towards shutting everyone out lately. I keep learning new things, but my hard work always gets my A's in the department not my relationships in the department. I just want to make prints lately as I should be doing now this late in the game of getting me BFA. Meeting new people has me thinking outside of the realm of art. I have to find some motivation soon. But a lot of the students just head towards mediocrity. I don't even care about the grades in the end. I just want to be the best technician in my field. Is this passion?

Wow!...

The good thing of a truck is that I can take it anywhere. But if a fuel pump craps out you're not going anywhere. I spent a couple hundred on this fix. I'm glad I know how to wrench and not just be into myself and only know printmaking and drawing.

BIG STONE!!!!!!!

This is very tiring. This is my second litho but its absolutely enormous. Its hard to model flat. I need to moch something up to slant this thing. A lot of anxious feelings are going on when I draw. Iam going to be trying a thing called patience...

Keep going!

I find inspiration among a lot of things that culturally scream passion! Along with that I find I love well developed artist's work. I've been looking for Chinese dragons. I need a hybrid of Foo dogs, dragons, oni all together with that tsaebami style.. sketches on that later. Here are some current projects also on the plate.

Beyond oni.. TSAEBAMI

Ill tell you.. this is nothing to me to sketch them out. Now, if someone takes them for non profit ... like homework or just tattoo design work given to a shop artist for personal flash its not a big deal. These images have copyright but I am not against appropriation. BTW.... DO AWAY WITH SOPA!!!! Please excuse quality in some of these as they're not intended for full quality. This first image is me at work, doing my job (Autozone) during a completely dead time though... right?!!

first litho done. am I happy?

Absolutely yes and no!
first off its a bitter sweet... since this is my first litho it is safe to claim that this is the crappiest compared to the future works, but I want more stones to be done!!! Work is ridiculous on their demand currently and other outside issues are finding their way into my life! I wish I wish I wish problems weren't bothering me right now! Katherine Liontas-Warren has made me into a printer!!! yes! IM YELLING

although crappy... I have done it! I'm an official lithographer.
Jonathan Daoang is a lithographer.
water mark was enforced by Elia Merel. good evening!

Playing around with some portraits

Now, my biggest endeavours right now are planning for my senior show. I am going to be looking up 5 artists a day and choosing 1 each day to do a write up on aside from school. No time is an understatement as far as describing my schedule. This is all just to make sure I can speak about my art and not look like a fool in front of the faculty. At the end of the day I don't make art for people I create my art from me for me and influenced by all who are involved in my life.
