Woot!

Okay today has been a wow moment. I'm in the place where I need to be. Kind of placing my foot into the door of the tattoo industry. Not as an aspiring hungry apprentice but as a starved out artist pushing my work. When I started to follow Sullen Art Collective and Jeff Gogué on Instagram I was just interested in the great artwork produced and recognized. My work is definitely original, but I NEVER would have thought that I would be accepted to be juried in an art show affiliated with these people. I'm in shock and awe... I'm just speechless. What a great day!

This month has just been on point. MARRIED ON Friday the 13th, I was released to go back to work, and now I'm in at this juried show! AWESOME

New Things

There has been so many changes! All leading up to my final semester here at Cameron University. Big changes mean big demand on time. Sorry for the delays on posts. I love my time with family. I am just now getting all my life together. A sketch a day! Always

Sent my entry to Boston Printmakers 2013 North American Print Biennial!

Surgery :( shoulder surgery... It sucks, but I really needed to take care of it. High hopes for speedy recovery.

I have taken a step into a new direction, and I feel the heat of passion!!! Like it feels when a new sketchbook is in my grasp. It feels so great. I have everything I want, and everything I could need. I found some great carving tools at this estate auction. REAL Japanese wood carving tools! It was a steal. Thanks to my family for bringing this one together.
Samantha, I love you so much!

Charcoal for linocut

I was happy when I was on rives bfk using charcoal. I was missing my buddy so I used charcoal on my linocut for preliminary sketching... No more paper and transfer! I started with a medium base (rub vine charcoal into surface) and sketched with vine. Lifted for values keeping in my mind chiaroscuro effects! I love this now! I think I have broken my failed attempts in linocuts forever more!!! Pics later on!

Lino cuts are hard

Think about this.. Your carving out what makes out to be, the positive! It's just not at all an easy task! Come on. But at least I'm working through it now. Can't compare to how much thinking goes on when it comes to subtractive methods! My brain is tired!!!

New ambition??

So I think I will post everyday from now on. I don't have time to write. It I have time to click an app and txt.... Yeah so this will from now on be my journal. I've got to document my changes someway. Right now I am about to pick up my basket of vegetables from the co-op. I like to juice my veggies as of late. Each time I juice I feel much better about the choices of food I eat. I have to make sure Samantha, my pregnant fiancé has plenty of food to eat!!!

Progress

Thinking on the title still!

Some thoughts

How much does this art lifestyle mean to me? It means this much; I wake up and breath the words you're beautiful to my fiancé yet I return to my craft day in and day out. I think about the craft and what my instructors tell me is due in the future when I neglect my work habits. But while I'm here I think of the family. While I'm with the family I think I better keep it short and get back to the work. In short, I rely on my fiancé to support my work habits because I feel bad for being here working, it's going to be hard to get used to someone who trusts I work diligent and in good spirit. I'm not used to that. Everyone should have one of these good partners like I have! I love you Samantha Williams .

New litho

Don't know what to call this one... Thinking about it. The ropes are not broken meaning it does have a criteria to meet.

New litho series

I'm trying to find a new way to express my life through metaphor. I'm working with trees and cherry blossoms. I have a new life with Samantha, so I'm representing that and me with a sun on the horizon. The sun rays are set in a three ray pattern just as the Philippine flag is. I know that the children we have should be represented but I think in a new light/new season is dually noted. I represent this with trees growing and also fully shedd of leaves for visual effect of new season to come. They have taken on me like a natural shedding of leaves due to the seasons changing. I placed four trees to represent four growing offspring, yet I placed three cherry blossoms to represent those who have bloomed and have their own personality in life. To fit this piece in my works I placed another ONI in the top of the conposition and kintuna knot in the front ground tying in motif of ropes and japanese knots placed in JDM VIP style import tuners. This is just another characteristic of my outside hobby and lifestyle being injected into my work. Plenty of representation going on! Pics later!!
